Can my employer purchase a course for me?

Yes. Most people enroll individually during our registration period, and then submit their receipt to their employer for reimbursement. However, if your employer has a tuition budget and wants to pay for your course directly, you may complete this form to commence the employer payment process.

Do I have to travel to take your courses?

Nope! All our courses are offered online, so you can take them from anywhere in the world. All you need is a high-speed internet connection and the applicable software for your course. (For course-specific software or hardware requirements, refer to the respective course page(s).)

Can I register for a course if I am working full time?

Of course. All of our course content is pre-recorded, so you can work and study on your own time. It's important to note, however, that most course content is released incrementally, so you can return to previous lessons but cannot skip ahead.

Is School of Motion an Accredited University or College, or can I transfer my courses for credit?

No. School of Motion is a professional development community, not accredited or formally recognized by any accreditation commission.

Do I get a certificate at the end of the course?

School of Motion has always been dedicated to providing you with the tools you need to achieve your Motion Design goals. It can be hard sometimes to articulate your skills in your demo reel, or in a series of bullet points on a resume. Starting now, School of Motion is offering web-enabled, verifiable SOM course credential through Credly.

If you complete and submit 70% of your homework assignments pertaining to the course content and is approved by your TA will be eligible for a Course Credential through Credly. With your Course Credential, you can share your accomplishments across your social networks, the blockchain, or to print out yourself.`

How long do I get access to my course on the student portal?

Forever! Once you complete a course, you’ll have lifetime access to the course and all its lessons and materials, so you can revisit them whenever you like. Also, if we make any changes to the course following your session, you’ll automatically receive access to the latest version.

Please note**:** Video critiques change with each session, so you’ll only have access to this content *during* the session.

Do I have to participate in the classroom?

Our new classroom environment can be accessed from within your course! Simply click the Classroom Icon inside of your course overview or inside of a specific week of content, and the classroom will appear on the screen. It’s not required for you to participate in the classrooms, but now that they are integrated with the courses, it’s much easier to get engaged! This is where you can share your work, ask course questions to your classmates and TAs, and participate in some contests!

Should I take more than one course at a time?

We don't recommend it, since all our courses are fast-paced, content heavy and intensive, requiring 10 to 20 hours of dedicated time per week. Plus, our courses are designed to build off each other, so taking more than one at once could limit what you gain from each.

Should I take more than one course at a time?

If you see that registration is closed for a particular course, it either means that we're between enrollment periods or that specific course has sold out. During enrollment, we suggest contacting our support team for recommended alternatives to sold-out courses; if the enrollment period has ended, you'll have to wait until the next session. We offer four sessions per year.

How can I pay?

For individuals, we offer two payment methods:

Payment Plan
  • Payment plans are split into two or three payments, depending on the course. The first payment is due upon registration, and the second (and third) payment are automatically withdrawn from your account on day 30 (and day 60) of the course.
  • Payment plans can be paid using any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard American Express, Discover)
  • Payment plans cannot be paid with Paypal
  • There is a 5% payment plan fee
Pay in Full
  • By paying in full, you can pay with any major credit card or Paypal
  • Save 5% by paying in full at the time of registration
  • If you are a Creative Team and you are enrolling more than one team member, contact [email protected] to find out if you qualify for invoicing and registration outside our standard registration
