FAQS
What are the requirements to participate in a School of Motion course?
Anyone can participate in a School of Motion course! All our courses are offered online, so you can take them from anywhere in the world. All you need is a high-speed internet connection and the applicable software for your course.
What is the School of Motion course format?
School of Motion courses range from 4 - 12 weeks long. Lessons become available at a specific time each week but you can watch them and do your work whenever it is convenient for you. The lessons include pre-recorded videos, podcasts, PDFs and assignments with working files.
All student work is critiqued by our highly trained Teaching Assistants. School of Motion TA's are professional Designers, Animators and 3D Artists with real life experience in the industry.
During the course you will be invited to a private classroom that contains all of the students and Teaching Assistants in your session. This is a great tool for connecting, asking or answering questions, sharing thoughts or insights, and winning cool contests!
What happens if I don't complete an assignment?
You'll get as much out of the course as you put into it. We encourage you to consume all lessons, complete each assignment and engage with your cohort in the classroom. However, we understand life happens so we've built in catch up weeks and flexible deadline policies. At the end of each course you'll also have the opportunity to add on extended critiques which gives you more time with a Teaching Assistant to complete the course and get your credential.
Do I get a certificate at the end of the course?
Yes, if you complete, submit, and have 70% of your course assignments approved by your Teaching Assistant you will be eligible for a Course Credential through Credly. With your Credly Course Credential, you can share your accomplishments across your social networks, the blockchain, or to print out yourself.
Can I access my course content after the course ends?
Yes! Once you complete a course, you’ll have lifetime access to the course and all its lessons and materials, so you can revisit them whenever you like. Also, if we make any changes to the course following your session, you’ll automatically receive access to the latest version.
Please note: Video critiques change each session, so you’ll only have access to the video critiques during the session you're enrolled in. The written critiques you receive in your homework locker as well as the classroom content will also remain available to you forever!
Can I register for a course if I am working full time?
Of course. All of our course content is pre-recorded, so you can work and study on your own time. It's important to note, however, that most course content is released incrementally, so you can return to previous lessons but cannot skip ahead.
Can my employer purchase a course for me?
Yes, if your employer has an education budget and wants to pay for your course directly, either your employer or you can complete this form to commence the employer payment process.
Can I I get a refund on my School of Motion course if it doesn't meet my needs?
Yes, we offer a generous refund policy. You may receive a refund up to the end of the 3rd week (Friday by midnight ET) of the course.
